As you can tell it has been a very busy week here at PCK-8. I am sorry for all the the Blog posts in one day but I wanted to get pictures on here as quick as possible. In order to make sure that no one has missed anything, here is a list of the blog posts that I have made today with new pictures and/or information. It is again the time of year when we Pre-Register for the next school year here at PCK-8. Therefore we would like to pass along pre-registration dates and rules for Kindergarten and 7th Grade. Please be aware that there are new immunization rules for both Kindergarten and 7th grade that must be followed for a list of those guidelines you may click here.

KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION

We will be registering upcoming Kindergarten students

May 19th, 20th, and 23rd , 2011. Registration dates are set up according to the first letter of the child’s last name.

May 19th…………..A-H

May 20th …………..I-Q

May 23rd ………….R-Z

Registration will be from 8:15 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each of the three days.

You should bring the following with you to register:

1. YOUR CHILD

2. Child’s original birth certificate (child has to be 5 years old by September 30th, 2011).

3. Child’s immunization record and proof of medical exam for entrance into school. **Note there are new immunization requirements for Kindergarten

4. Child’s social security number/card.

5. Custody papers, if appropriate.

***While at school your child will undergo a screening test, a speech/language screening, a vision screening, and a hearing screening. Plan for this process to take at least 45 minutes to complete. *Parents, please note that at times during the screening process you will be asked not to accompany your child, you will be allowed to remain nearby, but not with the child. Please help prepare your child for this, so he/she will not be afraid.

All parents/children should come to the K-8 office when arriving at school. If you have any questions or need further directions concerning pre-registration, please call 864-6565.

State Math Competition


On Thursday, several students from PCK-8 traveled to Cookeville to compete in the Regional State Middle School Math Competition at Tennessee Tech. We are proud to say that some of our students even placed in the top 1/3 of participants in the competition! And I would like to say, Great Job to everyone, I know it's not an easy task!!

Special Wedding Guests

A special Thanks to two very loved wedding guests, Mother Hubbard and Mother Goose! As Mr. Tompkins announced last night these two have been in attendance at many Tom Thumb Weddings, and we were very pleased to have them join us last night!

London may have had their Royal Wedding, but we enjoyed a Fairy Tale Tom Thumb Wedding of our own last night at PC K-8! There were many well known characters in attendance, as well as a two very special guests, Mother Hubbard and Mother Goose!! Here are some pictures from last night...

Practicing for the Tom Thumb

Today there was lots of preparation taking place in the gym for the Kindergarten class' Tom Thumb Wedding. The wedding will take place tonight, April 28th, at 7 pm. **And as a side note I have heard that we may have some special guests show up at this year's Tom Thumb! Please try to make plans to attend, the Kindergarten class would love to see you there!

4Her's Participate in Competion

The Pickett County 4-H students are preparing to participate in the Sub-Regional Interactive Exhibit Board competition in Cookeville. They will be competing against 8-10 other school districts from the Upper Cumberland. The students have been working very hard on their boards! I would like to wish them luck in the competition and tell them that their boards are looking fabulous. Here are a few examples...
