Fifth Graders Begin DARE

The fifth grade class began their DARE classes today. Deputy Keith Smith is their instructor. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The program will last about 12 weeks, with a weekly Wednesday class. At the end of the twelve weeks, the K-8 fifth graders will have a graduation ceremony. Today's lesson was an introduction to the program and a lesson about decision making.
You can learn more about DARE by visiting the DARE website. (click here)

It's Fundraising Time

Do you remember the children's song that goes:
Nobody likes us
Everybody hates us

Guess we'll go eat worms. . .!

Well that's how we feel when we have to ask you to help us raise funds. It's a part of education we don't enjoy, but we must have materials and supplies to be able to do our jobs. Yesterday the entire school met in the gym to kick off our fund raising project. There was a display of the prizes available and some dancing. I heard that cookie monster even made a visit to the lower grades.

So help us if you can, the students are selling cookie dough, candles and some other yummy things like soft pretzels and braided breads.
The order forms and payment due date is Tuesday, September 7.

The delivery date for all the items is Thursday, September 23

Thank you for your support.

2 Cool Guys!

We have two students that we are very proud of. They were good samaritans and returned some lost cash they found. Miss Alice made a poster to hang in the hall that features a picture and story the Pickett Press ran this week. The sheriff presented each boy with a certificate for being good citizens! Good job Nathan and Alex!
