How the Book Fair comes together!

Just in case you are wondering. . . here's how we get ready for the book fair!

It starts with a delivery from the Scholastic warehouse in Nashville. In this case, it was on a snow day and Miss Delilah met the driver at the school and held the door while he brought everything in! There are 10 of those cases on wheels and numerous boxes!

Next, Miss Veda Cross and her helpers Miss Kim and Miss Delilah and 4 third grade boys who are very good at carrying tables start getting things arranged. The cases are opened first.

Then, all the boxes are placed on the tables and books removed and put in order.
Finally, the fair is ready for the students. The work for Miss Cross is just beginning. She will be arriving early each day and staying late each afternoon for the next week to keep the book fair open. She also will spend her Saturday here tomorrow remaining open so that families may attend the fair together.

Today students got a chance to preview the fair and check out all the merchandise. The book fair will be open Saturday from 9-1 and each day from 7:30-3:30. Come by and check it out. There are some great selections and on Saturday you may register for a drawing Miss Cross will be having for some free books.

FAMILY DAY @ THE BOOK FAIR

FAMILY DAY AT THE BOOK FAIR WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 31ST FROM 9-1 IN THE LIBRARY.

Cat Stories

Miss Alice has created these hall displays for cat stories! Students are encouraged to write a story about their cat or bring a picture of their cat and Miss Alice will place in on the wall. There is a box just outside her door for your story. If you need a picture printed from your camera card just bring it by the computer lab and we will print it for you, or e-mail the picture to gibsond2@k12tn.net and I will print it.

No School Friday

There will be no school on Friday, January 16th, because of the extremely cold temps. This will actually disappoint some of the Junior High students who were going to get all dressed up for the Winter Ball. Plan B is that if school was not in session the ball will be re-scheduled.
Also, a reminder that Monday the 19th is a scheduled holiday and school is closed for Martin Luther King Day.

Pictures from our Day!

My sixth grade class went on a field trip to Nashville today, so I got a chance to go out during 3rd period and make some photos. Just wanted to share some with you! I send many of you pictures to your e-mail and you have told me how much you enjoy them. If you want on my list just send me your e-mail and the names and grades of your students. (gibsond2@k12tn.net)
I got so many it was hard to choose!

Miss Patti's January Bulletin Board

This is Miss Patti's January bulletin board. She was inspired by a Christmas card. She is so very talented! I envy her artistic ability!!!

Save Your Pull Tabs!

Don't forget Mrs. Norris's second graders are saving their pull tabs to give to the Ronald McDonald House. As you can see they already have a gallon! Help them get more. Just send them to school and we will get them to the class.
