Bring in Your Old Phone Books!

We will be hosting a phone book drive again this school year!

Please send in your old Twin Lake telephone directories. Whichever classroom brings in the most books will receive a prize. The school will receive $1.00 for each book, and the books will be recycled.

This is a great opportunity to get those old books out of the way and help out your school!

2015-16 Handbook Changes

In case you missed orientation...

Changes in the Cafeteria Charge Policy
  • The Federal Government does not encourage student charge accounts, therefore students will only be allowed to accumulate 5 days worth of charges. After the 5 days an alternate meal will be provided at no cost to the student.
    • Breakfast - cereal & milk
    • Lunch - sandwich & milk
  • HOWEVER, student balances must be paid off before they are allowed to participate in school trips.
  • It is best to keep money in your student's account to avoid an excessive balance. The cafeteria funds itself, so it is important to remember that meals are only free/reduced for those who have qualified.
    • Free/Reduced lunch applications must be filled out yearly (Federal Guidelines) only one application is needed per household.
    • Free & Reduced Meals - click here for more info
  • The school system is in the process of setting up an online system for both viewing cafeteria transaction history and depositing money into a student's account.
State Mandated Testing
  • Most of the TNReady (TCAP) test will be taken online this year. There will be two separate testing periods, Part I in February and Part II in April/May. This does not apply to K-2 students.
Dress Code
  • If a student is wearing jeggings, leggings, yoga pants, or other tight fitting pants, please be sure that they are wearing a long top/dress that hits 3-4" from the knee. A t-shirt is not considered appropriate with this type of bottom.
Bus Safety
  • A reminder that food & drink are not allowed on buses due to safety hazards. Trash & spills cause falls, food can be a choking hazard as well as a food allergy issue. Remember that there is only one adult on buses and that person is the driver.
  • We are asking parents to not send balloons to a student who will be riding a bus. If at all possible students need to be picked up on those days. We are working with the local florists to offer more bus friendly options!
