Pictures

The School Yearbook Portrait Proofs that we had taken a few weeks ago were passed out today. Orders for these proofs are due by Nov. 2.

Retakes, 8th Grade Individual, and Sports (Basketball, Football, Cheerleading) will be taken Wednesday, October 26th. In order for students to have a retake they must have a note describing what is wrong with the first proof so that we can try to correct the problem.

US Cellular Support

Thank you to each and every one who helped us in the US Cellular Contest. The show of support for our school was nothing less than AMAZING! In total we had 6,324 cards turned in to us last Friday, which had been voted on by many parents, teachers, students, friends and family. We still have not heard anything from US Cellular on our final placement in the contest, therefore classroom and individual totals will be announced at a later date. Here is a picture of all the cards we had turned in together....

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Families,

Wow! The support we have received has been AWESOME in our U.S. Cellular contest. I want to thank everyone who has worked to help our school win. We do not know when we will find out the winners, but I will let everyone know as soon as we are contacted.


I also want to thank everyone who participated in our cookie dough fundraiser. The K-8 received approximately $7,400.00 in much needed funds to help pay for day-to-day supplies in our school.


There is a new state law that I want to make everyone aware of. It is Public Chapter No. 351. It states the following: Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, a student in the third grade shall not be promoted to the next grade level unless the student has shown a basic understanding of curriculum and ability to perform the skills required in the subject of reading as demonstrated by the student’s grades or standardized test results, However, such student may be promoted if the student participates in an LEA approved research-based intervention prior to the beginning of the next school year. This section shall not apply to students who have IEPs pursuant to 20 U.S. C. 1400 et seq.


The 5th grade will be selling t-shirts Oct. 3rd through Oct. 14th. The 7th grade will be having their snack sales Oct. 3rd through Oct. 14th. The 6th grade will begin their Rada sales on Oct. 31st with the end date being Nov. 10th.


This year’s safety day will be Oct. 13th. Kindergarten will also ride the fire truck that day. Report cards for the 1st nine weeks will go home on Friday, Oct. 14th. Parent/teacher conference will be Tuesday, Oct. 25th from 3:00 till 6:00 p.m. Fall break will be the week of Oct. 17th through 21st.

WOW!! Great job everyone!! We had a total of 1,064 phonebooks turned in for our phonebook recycling drive. Pizza Parties and other prizes will be announced later.

Jr High Football Homecoming

Tuesday night the Pickett County Jr. High Bobcats took on the Albany Bulldogs in the last game of the season. Congratulations to the Bobcats on their win and a well played game. Also congratulations to all the attendants in the Homecoming activities, and to Queen Summer Wilber, and Princesses LeeEllen Beaty and Camme Sells! Everyone looked Fabulous!!
