PICKETT Co. k-8 april newsletter
Dear families,
I hope everyone enjoyed spring break! There are only 7 weeks of school left
for this school year. We are
making up the 1 snow day by extending the school year by 1 day. Students will come to school on
Thursday, May 21st, which was an administrative day. The administrative day is now Friday,
May 22nd and students will pick up report cards on Saturday, may 23rd.
Pickett County K8 will be selling school
t-shirts. The t-shirts will be
safety yellow. Please be looking
for an order form coming home with your child/children. We encourage you to purchase the
t-shirt for your child to wear on upcoming school trips. It is much easier for teachers when all
students have on the same color in their groups. The t-shirts will cost $12 plus tax and orders are due by
Friday, april 17th.
Linda Crouch will be meeting with grades
4,5, and 6 on Thursday, April 9th at 2:15 p.m. to inform and
encourage students about the benefits of music education. Parents are invited to attend.
We will be giving the state social studies
field test to grades 3-8 the week of April 13th.
Seventh and eighth grade students will be
participating in “brain Games” again this year at the high school. “Brain Games” is scheduled for Monday,
April 20th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the high school. Dinner will be provided to the
students.
Students who qualified for the spring
“peace” trip will be going to wonder works in Pigeon forge on Saturday, April
25th.
Progress reports will go home on Thursday,
april 30th.
Tcap testing will take place the week of
april 27th through may 1st.
