October Newsletter

Dear Families,
TCAP scores will be sent home on Monday, Oct. 4th. There will be a letter from the Tennessee Commissioner of Education along with a brochure to explain the test scores this year. With the new curriculum standards, the state was expecting a drop in test scores and we were as well.
The 5th grade class will be selling t-shirts beginning Oct. 4th through Oct. 15th. Please look for an order form to come home with your child/children.
The eighth grade will be taking the EXPLORE test on Tuesday, Oct. 5th. The EXPLORE is a test associated with ACT and is an indicator of how students will do with this type of test as well as gives them practice. It is important students get a good night’s sleep as well as eat breakfast the day of the test.
There will be a Health Fair for grades 4 through 8 on Thursday, Oct. 7th. Safety Day will be on Thursday, October 14th for all grades. Kindergarten will also ride the fire truck on this day.
Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, Oct. 15th. Parent/Teacher conferences will be on Thursday, Oct. 28th from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The After School Program for grades K-4 will begin on Monday, Oct. 25th. The hours are 3:00-5:00 and the cost is $1.
The Halloween Parade will be on Friday, Oct. 29th beginning at 8:30 a.m. Halloween parties will follow with Kindergarten and 1st grade visiting the nursing home. I am including a list of healthy party snacks compiled by Ms. Lisa Cummings (Coordinated School Health) students may want to bring.
