September Newsletter from Mr. Tompkins

Dear Families,

It seems everyone is getting into the groove of the new school year.
We are in the middle of our school-wide fundraiser. We should have
extra order forms on Thursday, September 2nd for those who need them.
The class that sells the most in k-2, 3-5, and 6-8 will get a pizza
party.
The PEACE Program will begin on Tuesday, September 7th. The kick-off
dinner for parents and students will be Thursday, September 2nd at
6:00 p.m. for those who have responded back. The PEACE Program is a
tutoring and enrichment program. Kindergarten through third grade is
served in the mornings between 6:50 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. Fourth
through eighth grade is served in the afternoons between 3:00 p.m.
and 5:00 p.m.
We have several students who are repeatedly being picked up before
car riders are called in the afternoon. I would ask parents to
please wait until car riders are called to pick up your children. We
are implementing the new state curriculum standards in all grades and
expect children to be in class the entire day. Students who
repeatedly leave before 3:00 p.m. are loosing class time and
instruction for homework and expectations for the next day. It is
important for the success of your children to be in class the entire
day and receive all classroom instruction. I will be sending home
letters to parents of students who are repeatedly being picked up in
the near future as a record that we are addressing this problem.
Parents who want to avoid the rush in the afternoon may wait until
3:20 or 3:25 to pick up their children.
