TCAP week attendance was FANTASTIC! We are looking forward to seeing who wins our HOT FUDGE CAKE contest. We plan on the winners enjoying their hot fudge cakes on Wednesday, May 1st. 

Reminder, the Tom Thumb Wedding is Tuesday, April 30th at 7:00pm. We have many important dates in May. They are as follows:

Yearbooks On Sale

Yearbooks are on sale this Week! Yearbooks are $35.00 each and will be sold until we run out!

Early Dismisal

Pickett County Schools will be dismissing at 12:00pm today, Friday, April 26th! This is reward for the students hard work on the TCAP test this week at the K8.
Great job students for all your hard work and effort this week, and DON'T FORGET we still have our ATTENDANCE competition going on at the K8. The classes with the highest percentage of attendance through next Tuesday will get to have Hot Fudge Cakes on Wednesday! Remember to earn a check mark for your class you must be here ON TIME and stay until 3:00!  GOOD LUCK to all of the classes! I know we have some really tight races!

Also remember, yearbooks go on sale MONDAY, April 29th, in the front lobby. They cost $35 each and will be on sale each morning from about 7:30, until we run out!

PCK8 Students PLACE at TTU Math Competition

I would like to congratulate  all 12 students who were chosen to attend the TTU Math Competition in Cookeville today. AND a big congratulations to 8th grader Elizabeth Norris and 7th grader Jose Rodriguez. Elizabeth finished 4th out of 91 contestants, and Jose finished 6th out of 90 contestants!! Great job to each one of you for participating and representing Pickett County K8, and I would also like to say "Great Job" to these students' math teachers, Mrs. Suiter and Mrs. Tompkins!!

Math Competition at TTU

Today 12 students are traveling to Tennessee Tech for the annual Middle School Math Competition. Students will compete with other students from around the mid-state. Wishing each of these guys the best of luck!!

Early Dismisal

Due to a water leak at the High School, Pickett County schools will be dismissing today at 12pm. Lunch will be served to ALL students before we are dismissed!

And as a side note, my 4th Grade students feel that they "really deserve this because they have been working SO hard preparing for TCAP!! " - lol

Menu Change for Thursday

There has been a menu change for Thursday, April 11th. We will be having Ham Sandwiches for lunch.

T-CAP is Just Around the Corner at the K8

As most of you very well know T-CAP tests are coming up for students at Pickett County K8 as well as others across the state.  We thought it might be helpful to inform parents that practice tests for their child can be found online at http://www.tn.gov/education/assessment/ach_samplers.shtml The practice test will give you an idea of the types and kinds of questions that will be on the T-CAP  the week of April 22.  At this site you can also find suggestions that might be helpful in helping to prepare your child for the test.

Class Group Pictures

There has been questions about how to order class group pictures on the Picture Proof Order Forms.  It was left off of the forms but all you have to do is write GROUP in the add-ons section of the order form and include $10 for the picture.  Sorry for this inconvenience.

Pickett County K-8 April Newsletter

Dear Families,

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break and sickness season is over. We have some activities that we have had to reschedule as a result of our being off for sickness. The first one is our Egg Decorating Contest. Students can bring their eggs in on Wednesday, April 3rd, by 9:00am.  Eggs will be judged at that time. The next item is Parent/Teacher Conferences. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 4th, from 3:00-6:00pm. Jr. Pro games scheduled for the week we were off for sickness are rescheduled as follows: Monday, March 18th games are rescheduled for Monday, April 15th. Tuesday, March 19th games are rescheduled for Tuesday, April 16th. Thursday, March 21st games are rescheduled for Thursday, April 11th.

We will be having a contest during the month of April. The class in each grade that has the best attendance percentage will get a hot fudge cake. The attendance percentage will take into account tardies and leaving early. It will be important to make sure everyone is on time and that everyone stays the entire day.

The week of April 22nd through the 26th is TCAP testing week. We will be serving a FREE hot breakfast to all students during this week. It will be extremely important that all students get to bed early during TCAP test week and each student is on time every day.

The Kindergarten Tom Thumb Wedding is scheduled for Tuesday night, April 30th at 7:00pm.
