PICKETT COUNTY K-8 MARCH NEWSLETTER
Dear Families,
We hope the snow is over. The plan to make up the first 3 days we missed over our banked snow days is to come to school on April 2nd (Good Friday) and April 12th and 13th (Monday & Tuesday of Spring Break). The plan for making up Thursday, Feb. 25th is pending.
The TCAP test is quickly approaching. It is very important that students be in school if at all possible. We are having several students picked up early in the afternoons and missing some of their 6th period class. Please do not make picking up students early a habit. The students are missing instruction time.
Jr. Pro will begin the week of March 15th and run through April 20thwith a break the week of TCAP (April 5-9) and the week of Spring Break (April 14-16). Jr. Pro games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Progress Reports
Due to the number of days missed for snow the third nine weeks, teachers do not have enough grades to adequately represent student measures for progress reports. We will not be sending home mid nine weeks progress reports. Report cards are scheduled to go home on March 19th.

Western Day in Second Grade
On Friday, Mrs. Jamie's second graders had a western theme in their class. The class was full of cowgirls and cowboys.
While I was there, the cowpokes were all busy with the art project you see above. Mrs. Jamie was tracing around their foot to make the horse's head and the students were looking at a picture on the computer that showed them how to decorate their horses. Later, I saw their finished projects decorating the hallway outside their classroom door. I noticed each student had chosen a name for their horse. I'm sure the day was filled with other western related activities. It was a good way to spend their first full day back at school this week!
