6th graders go ice skating

6th graders skating

The sixth graders recently enjoyed a trip to Nashville where many of the students went ice skating for the first time. They also traveled over to Opry Mills for some lunch and other activities!

Thanks to K-8 parents Kim and Gary for providing me with this photo.

A Reindeer Snack

These fourth graders came by the computer lab to share a treat they had made in their class. Colton, Delaney and Grace shared their Rudolph sandwiches made with bread, peanut butter, a cherry nose, chocolate chip eyes and pretzel ears. Colton said his mom, Miss Angie, came up with the idea. All three said they had not taste tested the sandwich yet, but thought it was going to be good. Maybe you would like to make one and leave for Santa!

Where's Miss Delilah now?

These last two days I have been at a conference in Gatlinburg. Tonight it is very cold here in the Smoky Mountains and yesterday school in Sevier County was cancelled because of high winds and flooding. But neither the wind nor the cold has stopped me from learning! Hey, I've been a student this week, too. I've been going to sessions about writing so I have several new ideas to try with my students. Several of the sessions were about technology and I tried to attend those. Here's an interesting fact I learned today: If the population of facebook were a country; it would be the fourth largest in the world!
I also talked with one of my favorite authors today, his name is Mike Shoulders. He wrote V is for Volunteer and Count on Us just to name a couple. I know Miss Cross or myself or one of the other teachers has read V is for Volunteer to you, it's all about Tennessee. He signed a book for my favorite boy!
On tomorrow's schedule there is a session about Wedkinz! I know many of my students use that website every time they come to computer lab, so that will probably be one of my choices for the morning. See you Monday, have a great week-end.

Pretty Princesses

Here's all the pretty princesses from the homecoming basketball game last night. Thanks to Mrs. Rebekah for being the official homecoming photographer last night.

Ornament Decorating Contest

I knew you could not be here to see, so I took a little walk through the Christmas ornaments with my camera so you could see just how creative our families are! I don't know who the judges were, but I am sure it was very difficult to pick a winner.
All the ornaments are going on the Christmas trees in the front lobby of the school this afternoon.
Remember if you click on a picture it will open up larger so you can see better.

A couple of Notes

The author visit on Thursday is only for grades pre-k through 4th.

The Winter Ball, a dance for the 7th and 8th students, will be December 11th in the cafeteria.
