Spring Photos March 4th & 5th
Spring Photos will be taken on Wednesday March 4th for grades Pre-k through 3rd. Grades 4-8 will be on Thursday, March 5th. Group photos of each homeroom will also be made on these days. The background for the photos is show above. Mr. Joel Poston, our school photographer, is still working on the exact placement of the plants and such. He will be taking 2 poses of each student this year. His suggestion is to wear solid colored clothing for the best photograph. Also a reminder that in this photo you will see the entire body, so that may influence what you wear. Even your shoes will show!!

The Energized Guyz
The Energized Guyz visited our school today. Sponsored by TVA and the National Theatre for Children, they presented a skit on saving energy. Students enjoyed the actors antics and learned about resources and saving energy. The Energized Guyz got a great round of applause and are welcome back anytime!

At the Book Fair
Don't forget! Books make great Valentine gifts and Miss Cross will put a valentine on your purchase and tie a bow around it. Then, it will be delivered to your child on Friday when all the Valentine gifts arrive.
My pick today is this classic children's book. If your child does not have a copy in their library, it is only 4.99 plus tax at the book fair. This book is a science lesson about how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, it's a counting book and you can learn the days of the week from it. It's short, it's simple and the illustrations are colorful and bold! And because it was one of my youngest daughter's favorite books when she was a little girl--I can read it without looking!!

At the Book Fair
This has been a popular book with the students. The 39 Clues is a series of books about the Cahills. They are suppose to be the most powerful family the world has ever known. The family is in a race to find clues that have been hidden around the world. You can log on the internet and participate. Here's what the website says to do:
To find the 39 Clues:
Read the Books – Each 39 Clues book unlocks one Clue.
Collect the Cards – Game cards help reveal Clues.
Play the Game – Find Clues through online missions.
Win the Prizes – Play and you could be eligible to win prizes! The Grand Prize is $10,000.
The first two books of the series are at the book fair. Seven more books are planned and will become available between now and September 2010.

Looking for Winter Ball Photos
I did not get to attend the Winter Ball last Friday, so if someone has some good photos I can use in the yearbook or post here just e-mail them to gibsond2@k12tn.net.
Book Fair Finds
While the book fair is here, I will try to feature a book fair find each day. Here's a book called Everything But the Kitchen Sink. It's a special value at only three dollars. There are 112 pages of food trivia, a few recipes and experiments and even a puzzle. If you enjoy weird facts such as the name of the first bubble gum ever sold was Blibber-Blubber, this is the book for you!
