Pre-K Graduation
Today was the last day for Ms Connie and Ms Julie's Pre-K class. There was a program for their parents, grandparents and friends in the gym at 2:00 today. The Pre-K kids entertained the crowd with songs and dances and each one received a certificate. The youngest visitor there today was a little sister who was born just last Saturday night!
Happy Summer little pre-k kids we will see you this fall in kindergarten!

Who Wants to be a Firefighter?
Today the 7th grade class went just across the street to the Fire/Ambulance Service Buildings. They were a little apprehensive about the trip thinking it might be boring! Were they ever surprised when they arrived and found what the local fire fighters had in store for them. The seventh graders suited up and practiced in the obstacle course. They learned just what it feels like to carry around all that heavy equipment in small spaces! Their teachers said they left with a new respect for our firefighters and the job they do!
After their fire fighting experience they all enjoyed lunch at the Bobcat Den.

My Special Kindergarten Friends
These are two of my special kindergarten friends! I've loved them both since they were babies and I was glad they reached this milestone! I think their Mommies were a little sad because their babies are growing up, but what they don't know is how they will feel the first time their baby drives away in a car alone or goes on their first date or when they eventually leave home for their own life! I tell them it's all happy--it's the way it is suppose to be, but I know it doesn't make them feel any better! All the best wishes to these two and all the little kindergarteners! And good luck Mommies--more stuff to make you cry is ahead!

Spring and Group Pictures
I sent home the spring portraits today for grades pre-k through 3rd. I will send 4-8th and band pictures tomorrow. If siblings had a picture package I still have that too. Watch for it tomorrow.
Joel Poston has created a band composite picture that parents may purchase for $25 (8x10). If you would like to see it stop by Room 200.
If you have questions e-mail me at gibsond2@k12tn.net or call the school 3496 and I will talk with you.

5th Graders Attend Conservation and Safety Day
The 5th grade class spent the day at the Pickett County Fairgrounds enjoying a day sponsored by the Pickett County Soil Conservation District. After dividing into groups the students visited eight learning stations when they had lessons in boating, gun, fire and tractor safety. Each student enjoyed a ride around the arena on a horse. They also enjoyed petting some goats. The students and their teachers say they had a great day!
