US Celluar Results

We were told today that PCK-8 is a $50,000 winner of the US Cellular Support Your School Contest. Again, we appreciate each and everyone who took part, whether large or small, to help our school win this money. There will be a Celebration Day scheduled at a later date, and Mr. Tompkins has decided to go ahead with the mohawk since our school has worked so hard. Check back frequently for updates on the Celebration Day.

Smokey Visits Pre-K and Kindergarten Firetruck Ride

On Friday, October 14th, Smokey Bear along with the Tennessee Forestry Department and the Pickett County Volunteer Fire Department were at school for the annual Kindergarten Fire Truck Ride. While they were here at school Smokey made a visit to the Pre-K Class. When the ride was over students got goodie bags, firemen hats, and juice boxes.

2011 Safety Day

October 13th was Safety Day.
We had visitors from the Pickett County Sheriffs Office, Pickett County EMS, Pickett County Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Pickett County Health Department, Pickett-Overton 911, and the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Each of these groups brought presentations and/or goodies for the students to participate in. It was a nasty, rainy day, but teachers, students, and presenters did their best to make it a great day! In the end I believe fun was had by all, and as always with the 5th-8th grade, driving the golf carts with the fatal vision goggles was a big hit! Here are just a few of the pictures from around Safety Day....
