And the winner is. . .

It's time to announce the winner of the Halloween goodies. I put all 25 entries in the orange Halloween bowl.I dashed over to the library and found Kayleigh and Brett who agreed to be my helpers.
Brett was the holder and Kayleigh closed her eyes real tight. . .

and drew Miss Evans from the entries!

I won't have far to go to deliver the goodies, she is my neighbor. Thanks to all who entered and watch for more free stuff soon!

Support the Second Grade

The second grade will be having a bake sale on November 14, 2009 at B & K. This is the only fundraiser the class will be doing. All of the proceeds will be used in the second grade classrooms to buy paper, tissues, glue, crayons, etc. If you would like to make something for the bake sale you may drop it off at B & K that morning. We will be there at 7:00 a.m. If you have any questions please feel free to speak with a second grade teacher. Thank you for your help and support!

Rock Concert!

On Thursday afternoon, students were treated to a short concert. A band called Shade Tree performed for the students, who seemed to enjoy the afternoon break! The band also brought a message to the students about bullying and respect. Shade Tree will be performing at the high school on Saturday night. Students can buy tickets here today for $8.00 or they can be purchased at the door for $10.00. The band allow parents to get in free. Although I must warn parents that the band is very loud!!!
The students had a great time (they said it was awesome!) and some students and an unsuspecting parent got to join in the fun!

Pickett K-8 is Proud to Honor Our Veterans

Mrs. Jane Smalling and her sixth grade students are involved in a project to honor our Veterans. They will be creating a Wall of Honor here at the school. A star will be created for each Veteran brought to them.

A note was sent out requesting the following information by November 2:
Name of Veteran
Rank and any war the veterans served in
Service Branch
Relations to K-8 student
Name of K-8 student.

All students who have someone in their immediate family (mother, father, sister, brother, grandparent) may participate.
You may include photos with this information but only send scans and copies of original pictures because the stars will be posted in the hallway and they don't want to lose any one's valuable photos!

Fall Break Fun

Fall break is almost over, but we can keep it going by sharing pictures of our Fall Break Fun. Mine was spending time with my favorite boy. You don't have to go someplace to have a good time, your break might have been a staycation. Maybe you built a fort in the living room or made cookies with your granny or left this rainy climate for the sunny beaches, whatever you did send me a photo and I'll post it here to share with everyone!
Just e-mail your picture to gibsond2@k12tn.net
